Convert between common veterinary units of body weight, drug amount, concentration, and body surface area.

Body weight & surface area

Convert between lb, kg, g, and oz. Body surface area (m²) for the same patient is calculated automatically using the species-specific allometric formula: BSA = K × weight(kg)^(2/3) ÷ 100, with K = 10.1 for dogs and K = 10.0 for cats.

BSA-based dosing has fallen out of favor for some agents in cats and small dogs (under 10 kg) because drug clearance does not scale linearly with surface area in those weight ranges. Verify the dosing convention specified for the agent before using this BSA value.

Concentration

Convert between %, mg/mL, and µg/mL. A w/v percent is grams per 100 mL, so 1% equals 10 mg/mL.
